Advice regarding red wedding dresses

by Karen Vander

Red is somehow not that common for wedding dresses, at least in the Western world. Although it is also not so uncommon than you can’t find one. Indeed many boutiques already have some models of red wedding dresses to choose from.

Beautiful in red

Red is a hot color, no doubt. This color implies passion, love, and luck. Presently, many brides feels this way. Contemporary woman tend to wear how they feel like. And their wedding is not an exception to this rule. It is only another chance to demonstrate their feelings. White is traditionally the color of purity and innocence, but most people aren’t expecting that a bride demonstrates her purity or even that she is indeed pure. Weddings are nowadays a symbol of commitment, like it has been before, but there is nothing against passion in this commitment.

If you as bride already chose to wear a red wedding dress, consider that you will have also to match the decoration or the church or of the venue where the ceremony takes place. Wearing a modern dress in a conventionally decorated church is, simply said, of bad taste. Everything has to match. Red dresses will somehow reduce the choice of places where you can marry, no doubt. However, brides that go for a red dress, really want it and will avoid conservative places from the beginning. This is not a loss for them.

Color that can match well with red are aqua, pink and other reddish tones. Avoid putting too much red in everything. A bouquet of red roses with aqua flowers is perfect. Remember that also the cake and invitation should have a rather reddish tone.

The fashion already started to spread from Europe to North America. It is clearly a rebellion of those demanding that every wedding dress should be white. In other parts of the world, like Africa or Asia, white has never been a traditional color for wedding. Brides wear principally red, a symbol of good luck and joy. The bridal dress’ industry is producing every year more and more models of red wedding dresses. This is a proof that red wedding dresses are there to stay and are becoming more acceptable. There is a myriad of choices, starting from rather classically cut red wedding dresses to dresses that better suit brides with an extroverted, audacious personally.

Red is the color of choice for modern brides

by Karen Vander

Red is the color of choice for daring, modern brides. It implies a sense of innovation regarding fashion. However, even if it is rather uncommon, be sure that many, many boutiques have red wedding dresses in stock. People buy red wedding dresses. They are just not that common.

White / red wedding dress

Traditionally, brides couldn’t chose the color of their wedding dress. White was the only acceptable choice. As times became more liberal, brides began to wear pastel, blue or green. Pastel is so common that most people won’t even comment it.

Red represents confidence, modernity and audacity. Brides who have all these three qualities should consider a dress that matches their personality.

A red wedding dress symbolized sensuality, disregard for conventions and it’s the expression of a strong personality. Woman who know what they want and how to get it go for this color. It is not meant for conservative or shy woman. If it reflects your personality, you should chose. Otherwise go for most discreet tones. There is no rule that says brides should wear white. Society has simply its traditions and white wedding dresses were established through repetition during one and half century. Not even in the middle ages was an obligation to wear a white wedding dress. Woman simply chose their best dress for a wedding, and it was mostly not white.

Presently the meaning of white was lost. On the other hand, color still have some meaning. White means quietness still. Red and other reddish tones mean intensity. Green means optimism. The most important question for a bride is how she feels about her wedding. The color should be an expression of her feelings.

Wearing a red wedding dress implies breaking conventions and definitely not for shy or conservative woman. Just remember that a wedding is for many people unique and it is actually the day of the bride. If you as bride feels more comfortable wearing red you should definitely wear it. There is no rule saying that you should wear white. Not even within Christians is it obligatory. The color white was just imposed from society upon woman in the Victorian era. We just kept this tradition even after the meaning was lost. Wearing a color that you choose, red in this case, is a way of recuperating a lost meaning and making your wedding a meaningful occasion.
